Helping personal care products company Paris Presents Inc. implement a new supply network in Asia and take over the ongoing management of their existing and newly developed Asia supply network.

Situation:

A change in corporate strategy resulted in Paris Presents owners deciding to outsource the quality and supply management of their existing Asia supply network of approximately 60 manufacturers and suppliers.

The decision was also made to increase the supply network of some key personal care products to meet increasing capacity requirements, in additional to targeted cost savings. Paris Presents chose MPKi to outsource this project.

Approach:

MPKi created a dedicated project team to take over the day-to-day management of the Asia supply network on the ground-primarily throughout China and India. A local MPKi team was also located in the US, at the Paris Presents corporate offices in Illinois, to ensure close collaboration with the relevant internal departments ongoing-most notably the new product development group, and purchasing.

Over a period of months, with close collaboration from the Paris Presents supply management team, MPKi teams in Asia integrated themselves into the more than 50 Asian suppliers, to ensure trust and under- standing of the current, long-standing relationship between suppliers and Paris Presents.

In tandem with building trust and managing existing suppliers, a separate MPKi sourcing team worked on qualifying and selecting new suppliers for key personal care-related products required by Paris Presents and their customers.

Results:

Developed a dedicated, outsourced Asia supply management and sourcing team, which worked as an ex- tension of Paris Presents, allowing them to focus on their core competency of sales and marketing.
